Srinagar, Sep 1: Elegant Strikers Srinagar booked their place in the semifinals of the Kashmir Cup 2025 after defeating JK XI Shopian by 40 runs in the second qualifier at TRC Ground, Srinagar, on Monday.

As per a statement issued, opting to bat first, Elegant Strikers posted a challenging 173/8 in 20 overs, with Muneeb Munaf scoring 45 off 28, 4 sixes and skipper Ahmad Omer Banday scoring 25 off 13 leading the charge. Despite some breakthroughs from JK XI Shopian’s Faisal Lefty 2/34, the Strikers’ middle order ensured a strong total.

In reply, JK XI Shopian started aggressively but faltered after losing quick wickets. Junaid Mushtaq (44 off 27) and Aamir Lefty 45 not out of 35 tried to anchor the chase, but disciplined bowling from Elegant Strikers, especially Tauqeer (3/26) and Muneeb Munaf (1/25), restricted Shopian to 133/5 in 17.2 overs before heavy rain ended play.

As per the organisers, in the first match of the day, Hamdaan Hurricanes were declared winners by 'walkover' after their scheduled opponents, Valley Fresh Cold Chain, ‘failed’ to turn up for the game. “Hamdaan Hurricanes is awarded the victory, as Valley Fresh Cold Chain did not appear and failed to participate,” organisers said.

With this victory, Elegant Strikers advanced to the Kashmir Cup semifinal, keeping alive their dream of lifting the trophy.
