JUIT establishes new benchmark in technical higher education
Srinagar, Apr 5: Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) has cemented its position as a premier institution for technical education in Himachal Pradesh, as revealed during a press meet held at its picturesque Waknaghat campus in Solan district on Saturday.
A statement said that the University, which has been attracting students from across the region, showcased impressive achievements that underscore its emergence as a destination for quality education.
Prof Tiratha Raj Singh, Media In-charge at JUIT, opened the proceedings with a welcome address highlighting the institution's commitment to educational excellence and its impact on aspiring technologists and scientists.
Elaborating on the university's foundation and distinctive character, Brig. R.K. Sharma (Retd.), Registrar and Dean of Students, detailed JUIT's comprehensive infrastructure, residential facilities, and the diverse range of co-curricular activities available to students that set it apart from other private universities in the state.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma emphasized JUIT's vision centered on "research, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship." He pointed to the establishment of the Directorate of Research and Innovations and Ramanujan Supercomputing facility as concrete steps toward realizing this vision.
"Our students are not only selected for internships at various IITs but also at global technology leaders like Amazon and Google," Prof. Sharma noted. He added that the university's 8,000 alumni, with over 26% building successful careers abroad, stand as testimony to JUIT's academic excellence.
The university recently earned NAAC A accreditation with an impressive CGPA of 3.40, valid for five years from April 25, 2024. This recognition reflects JUIT's commitment to educational quality and opens avenues for new certificate courses and programs.
JUIT has made remarkable strides on the global stage, securing a place in the 801-1000 band in the Times Higher Education World Rankings 2025. The university ranks 179th in the QS World Rankings Southern Asia 2025 and holds a position in the 251-300 band for the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Ranking 2025.
Additionally, JUIT received a 3.5-star rating from the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) under the Ministry of Education, further validating its status as a globally recognised institution.
The university's research capabilities are evidenced by 55 granted patents with many more in the pipeline. JUIT has also established numerous Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various institutions, organizations, and foreign universities to facilitate research collaborations and strengthen industry connections, the statement said.
