J&K Sports Council announces open trials for Santosh Trophy 2025
Srinagar, Nov 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council has announced open selection trials for raising the J&K UT Men’s Football Team that will participate in the Senior National Football Championship 2025 for the Santosh Trophy.
As per the notification, the trials will be held simultaneously in the Jammu and Srinagar divisions from November 15 to 16, 2025, beginning at 11 AM. Jammu division players are directed to report at the Mini Stadium Synthetic Turf Parade Ground, Jammu, while Kashmir division players will undergo trials at the Synthetic Turf Football Stadium, TRC, Srinagar.
Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, said the open trials are being conducted directly under the supervision of the J&K Sports Council in the absence of an active football association. “Earlier, associations used to pick players through their leagues, but currently the Sports Council is conducting open trials so that every talented player gets an opportunity to participate,” she said.
She added that separate selection committees have been constituted for Kashmir and Jammu divisions. “We have experienced coaches who are part of our professional coaching setup. Each division also has its head coach and divisional officer overseeing the process,” she said.
Gul further said that the selection will be conducted in phases. “First, trials are held separately in both divisions, and the shortlisted players will be finalised to represent J&K in the Santosh Trophy,” she said.
As per the notification, following the divisional trials, final selection trials will take place from November 19 to 21, 2025, at the Mini Stadium Synthetic Turf Parade Ground, Jammu, where shortlisted players from both divisions will compete for a spot in the final squad.
The selected players will then undergo a coaching camp before departing for the Santosh Trophy 2025, representing Jammu and Kashmir at the national level.
The Sports Council has urged all interested and eligible players from J&K to attend the trials as per the given schedule.
