J&K achieves milestone in education survey
Srinagar, Dec 4: Jammu and Kashmir marked a significant milestone on Wednesday with the successful completion of the Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024.
A statement of Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (J&K SCERT) issued here said that this large-scale educational survey saw enthusiastic participation of students of class 3rd, 6th, and 9th, representing 2099 sampled schools throughout J&K.
The Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024, formerly known as National Achievement Survey, is a flagship initiative aimed at evaluating and enhancing the quality of education in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.
The statement said that under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the J&K government has been steadfast in its mission to elevate the educational standards of J&K to the national level.
“The success of Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 in J&K owes much to the leadership and efforts of Minister of Education, Sakeena Masood Itoo. The minister has been a beacon of transformative change in the region’s education sector, with her commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and quality-driven education system. Her leadership has inspired a culture of innovation, focusing on adopting best practices and aligning J&K’s education framework with national and international standards. The Education Minister’s commitment to the successful conduct of the survey is evident from the fact that a meeting with officers of the School Education Department, District Development Commissioners, and SSPs was held to ensure smooth conduct of the survey,” the statement said.
It said that the successful execution of Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 in J&K stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department, Suresh Kumar Gupta (IFS).
“His strategic guidance and meticulous oversight ensured the seamless coordination of this monumental survey, involving students across 2099 schools in J&K,” the statement said.
Rashtriya Sarvekshan formerly known as National Achievement Survey is conducted after every three years to assess student’s performance, compare performance across groups, and provide policy recommendations for bringing required reforms in the education system.
The statement said that the survey was organised and executed under the stewardship of the Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Jammu and Kashmir, Parikshat Singh Manhas.
It said that Prof Manhas ensured seamless coordination across all districts, with robust logistical support and standardised procedures to uphold the integrity and reliability of the survey.
The statement said that to monitor and support the execution of Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024, Manhas, visited various survey centers in Jammu.
It said that he reviewed the arrangements, interacted with stakeholders, and ensured compliance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education.
Speaking at one of the centers, Manhas said, “This survey is not just about numbers; it’s about understanding the strengths and challenges within our education system and paving the way for its improvement.”
The statement said that the Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 reflects the government’s unwavering focus on fostering an inclusive, equitable, and quality-driven educational landscape in J&K.
“The insights derived from this exercise are expected to guide future policy interventions and strategic initiatives aimed at elevating the standards of education across J&K,” it said.
