JD (U) holds convention in Sopore
Baramulla, Apr 6: The J&K unit of JD(U) held a workers’ convention in Sopore today.
According to a press release, large number of party members and supporters attended the convention. J&K JD(U) President G M Shaheen addressed the gathering.
Shaheen expressed strong support for the Waqf Amendment Bill, calling it beneficial for the Muslim community. “The truth is that the Waqf Amendment Bill is in the interest of the Muslim community, and that is why our JD(U) fully supports it,” he said, dismissing opposition claims that the bill is anti-Muslim.
He strongly criticised National Conference (NC) and its leadership on various issues. Shaheen accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his party of failing to fulfill their electoral promises and betraying the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He further alleged that the NC government was responsible for filing false FIRs against Kashmiri youth, particularly during the 2010 unrest.
“Most of the FIRs against youth were lodged during NC rule. They looted the people of Kashmir and amassed wealth in the form of properties, hotels, and other assets,” Shaheen claimed.
