Jammu Court summons Mithun Manhas in complaint case
Srinagar, Oct 22: The Judicial Magistrate 1st Class (Sub Judge), Jammu, has issued a summon notice directing BCCI president Mithun Manhas and others to appear in court in connection with a complaint filed by retired Dy SP Sudershan Mehta.
The complaint, as per the court order, has been filed under Sections 356, read with section 45, and 61 of the BNS Act, against Manhas and other officials associated with the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) and several media editors, including Rattan Singh Gill (The Northlines), Shafqat Hussain Bukhari (The Kashmir Horizon), Farooq Ahmed Wani (Brighter Kashmir), and a journalist from The Indian News Service.
The court notice, issued on October 18, 2025, instructs Manhas to appear in person or through a legal representative on November 24, 2025.
As per the court notice, the list of accused in the complaint includes Mithun Manhas, Anil Gupta (Retd Brig, Member Administration, JKCA), Majid Dar (Assistant Member, JKCA), and several media editors.
The court’s order emphasises that no cognizance can be taken without hearing the ‘proposed accused’. It also instructs that copies of the complaint and annexures be sent to the accused via registered post.
The case, which was transferred from the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu, is scheduled for the next hearing on November 24, 2025.
