IUST wins at Smart India Hackathon 2025
A team of students from the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, emerged as national winners at the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025.
The team, ‘Team Passengers’ from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, developed an innovative solution for a problem statement issued by the Ministry of AYUSH titled *“API to Bridge AYUSH NAMASTE and ICD-11 for EMR Compliance.”* Their solution addressed interoperability between traditional AYUSH healthcare systems and modern electronic medical record standards.
The eighth edition of SIH saw massive nationwide participation, with over 72,000 idea submissions. Team Passengers was declared among the five winning teams at their centre following a 36-hour hackathon at Graphic Era Deemed University, Dehradun.
Vice Chancellor IUST Prof. Shakil A Romshoo congratulated the students, stating that the achievement reflects the university’s emphasis on innovation, experiential learning and problem-solving. The team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh, shared with Code Vaidyas of VIT Chennai, and also earned internship opportunities.
