Jammu, Sep 09: J&K government Monday relieved senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Ashish Kumar Mishra from the Union Territory to enable him to take up his new assignment in Delhi Police.

The Election Commission of India (ECI), on August 28, 2024, had directed J&K government to relieve Mishra, who was serving as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar.

Mishra was transferred from J&K to Delhi Police on June 8, 2023 but could not be relieved due to administrative reasons.

“In pursuance of the approval of Competent Authority, Ashish Kumar Mishra, IPS (AGMUT: 2013), is hereby relieved from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, to enable him to take up new assignment in Delhi Police,” read an order issued by J&K Home Department, referring to Order issued under F N0 14020/0l/2023-UTS 1 dated June 8, 2023 of Ministry of Home Affairs, Gol; Letter No 434/J&K-LA/2024(NS-I) dated August 28, 2024 of Election Commission or India and Letter F N0 14020/01/2023-UTS I dated August 29, 2024 of Ministry of Home Affairs, Gol.

Meanwhile, through a separate order, J&K Home Department has also reinstated Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Basharat Hussain Dar, who was placed under suspension in May, 2016, with immediate effect. Directive for his reinstatement was issued, as per decision of the Review Committee on June 25, 2024.

“Basharat Hussain Dar, the then Deputy Superintendent of Police, IRP 11th Bn, placed under suspension vide Government Order No 295-Home of 2016 dated May 30, 2016 and attached with the office of DIG, SKR, Anantnag, is hereby reinstated with immediate effect as per the decision of Review Committee dated June 25, 2024, constituted in terms of the Government Order No 1390-JK (GAD) of 2023 dated November 17, 2023,” read order. As per order, the period of his suspension will be decided separately.
