Kupwara, Dec 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council, in collaboration with the Department of Kashmiri at Government Degree College Handwara and Monarch Secondary School Handwara, on Thursday organised a one-day inter-district seminar and mushaira focused on Allama Iqbal’s philosophy of Khudi.

The event opened with a recitation from Iqbal’s poetry, creating an inspiring atmosphere for discussions on his ideas of self-realisation, moral discipline, and intellectual awakening.

President J&K Urdu Council, Advocate AR Hanjura, attended as Chief Guest. He underscored the enduring relevance of Iqbal’s thought in shaping confident and intellectually awakened youth, and appreciated the joint effort to promote Urdu language and literature.

Additional Superintendent of Police Handwara, Syed Fayaz Geelani, joined as the Guest of Honour and praised the organisers for providing a vibrant literary platform for students from across districts.

Students from GDC Handwara, GDC Kupwara, GDC Villgam, and GDC Sogam participated with enthusiasm, presenting poetry that reflected a strong grasp of Iqbal’s intellectual legacy.

The programme was attended by several noted literary personalities and dignitaries, including Ejaz Ahmad Kakro, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Ganaie, Miraj-ud-Din Shah, Rafiq Ahmad Mir, Dr Ghulam Rasool, Dr Shakeel Shafai, Nazim Nazir, Javid Ahmad Kirmani, Dr Mohammad Yousuf, Dr Shahida Shabnam, Dr Rayees Ahmad Kumar, Arshid Mohiuddin, Maqbool Faiq, Farooq Shaheen, Dr Aabida War, and Dr Reyaz Tawheedi.

Monarch Secondary School Handwara received special appreciation for its effective arrangements and the impressive performance of its students, which contributed significantly to the programme’s success.

The event was chaired and moderated by Nazir Ibn Shahbaz, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow of proceedings.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Farooq Ahmad Pir, Chairman of Monarch Secondary School Handwara, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and collaborating institutions for making the seminar and mushaira a memorable success.
