Instigator booked under PSA in Baramulla: Police

‘Chargesheet produced in NIA Court against 2 accused’

Srinagar, Jan 20: An instigator in Baramulla was booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) on Saturday, Police said,

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that acting tough against the anti-national elements, Police booked the accused instigator identified as Nasir Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Muhammad Ganie of Raipora Palhallan, Pattan under the PSA after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

The booked person has been detained and subsequently lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu.

“The accused person is a hardcore Instigator and many cases are registered against him. He was involved in the disturbance of law and order and subversion. Despite his involvement in many FIRs, he did not mend his anti-national activities and was again involved in instigating and disturbing a peaceful environment,” Police said.

Meanwhile, Police also produced a chargesheet against two accused persons in the NIA Court, Srinagar.

The J&K Police statement said that the chargesheet was produced in case FIR No 94/2023 in the Court of NIA Srinagar.

The chargesheet of the case FIR No 94/2023 was registered under sections 7/25 of the A Act and 13, 18, 20, 23, 38, 39, and 40 of the UA(P) Act of Police Station Batamaloo in the NIA Court, Srinagar, against two accused persons Arfat Yousuf Khan, son of Muhammad Yousuf Khan of Pethgam, Rajpora and one of co-associates of killed local terrorist Yawar Shafi Bhat, son of Muhammad Shafi Bhat of Kalampora, Pulwama on January 19, 2024.

The case is related to the recovery of arms and ammunition by Police in Batamaloo, Srinagar from the accused.

Police said that during the investigation, a link was established between the duo based on CDR/IPDR which finally resulted in its culmination.

“One of the accused was killed during an encounter with security forces and Police at Shah Mohalla Yadipora, Palhallan falling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Pattan, Baramulla, on September 30, 2022, regarding which case FIR No 280/2022 has been registered in Police Station Pattan,” the statement said.
