GMC Anantnag emphasises on upholding research integrity
Anantnag, Dec 4: The Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) of GMC Anantnag held a significant meeting today, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining high research standards.
The session was inaugurated by Principal GMC Aanntnag Prof Dr Rukshana Najeeb and chaired by Prof Dr Omar Javed Shah, former Director and Dean of SKIMS.
The panel included medical scientists, social scientists, civil society representatives, and legal experts.
During the meeting, over 30 research proposals from various departments were reviewed, emphasising participant safety, confidentiality, and ethical integrity.
The proposals demonstrated strong inter-departmental collaboration, combining the fresh perspectives of young researchers with the seasoned guidance of senior faculty.
The committee stressed the importance of upholding research integrity and provided recommendations to ensure adherence to the highest ethical standards.
Dr Mansoor Ahmad, Member Secretary, highlighted the committee’s progress and outlined future strategies to further elevate research standards at GMC Anantnag.
GMC Anantnag is among the few institutions in Jammu & Kashmir with an Ethics Committee registered with both the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and the Department of Health Research (DHR).
Both the Chairperson and the Principal commended the quality of research conducted at the institution, reiterating their commitment to fostering ethically sound and innovative research practices.
