Ganderbal Police organise football tournament

Ganderbal, Nov 14: Ganderbal Police organised a football tournament in the district under its Civic Action Programme.

A statement said that SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar inaugurated the Football Tournament at Qamariya Stadium Ganderbal in which eight Football Teams/Clubs belonging to different areas of the district will participate.

The tournament witnessed a huge response from District Players and many Football Teams of the District desired to participate in the tournament, but finally, 8 teams were shortlisted through a lucky draw series.

SSP Ganderbal appreciated and wished good luck to both teams for playing the inauguration match of the tournament.

He also stressed that the young and budding players of the district allow their minds to explore their own thoughts and imagination through the medium of sports. Further, he asked the players to show good sportsmanship, discipline as well as good behaviour towards each other.

The inaugural match was played between Ganderbal Heroes FC vs Shalbugh Football Community which was won by Shalbugh Football Community by 2:1 goals. Aadil was declared Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ganderbal Police is organising different sports events, like Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Cultural and other Co-curricular activities in the district for the upliftment of sports.

Moreover, Additional SP Ganderbal Malik Aijaz, Dy SP Headquarters Ganderbal Gh Hassan and other senior officers of the Police and Civil Department and a good number of spectators were also present on the said occasion.
