Forest fire engulfs dense vegetation at Nar
Rajouri, January 11: A massive blaze engulfed area of forest at Nar village near Bhata Dhurian of Poonch's Mendhar sub division causing widespread damage to green cover and wildlife.
Flames are spreading rapidly in the dense vegetation amid prevailing dry atmosphere due to lack of rainfall. Locals informed that flames erupted from the forest area during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday and spread in the forest of Nar.
They said that several acres of forest land is already under fire and a massive loss of forest cover has taken place.
The Nar forest is a dense forest cover that is spread between Bhata Dhurian and Naka Manjari villages of Mendhar and is the place where an encounter took place between forces and terrorists in year 2021.
Four army personnel had lost their lives while five army personnel got killed when an army vehicle was attacked by terrorists on national highway passing through the forest on April 20 last year.
