Pampore, Aug 1: Flash floods on Wednesday inundated several residential houses and shops in Khrew village of south Kashmir’s Pampore district, besides causing damage to vegetable farms.

An official said that intense rains in the upper reaches of the area triggered flash floods, which submerged the streets and vegetable farms in the area.

“The water also submerged the streets and overflowed the drains in the area,” they said.

The residents said that plastic and other waste items carried by the flood water also blocked the drains.

A revenue official said that a team of the department rushed to take stock of the situation.

He said that the team would assess the damage caused due to flash floods.

“We have pressed men and machinery into service to clear the streets and drains,” he said.
