Baramulla, Feb 15: A delegation of the 10+2 Lecturers Association led by president Mansoor Ahmad Khan today visited the Civil Secretariat Srinagar and accorded a warm welcome to G N Bhat who recently took over as Additional Secretary, School Education Department and extended greetings and good wishes to him for his new assignment. The delegation sought the filling up of vacant posts of Principals and career progression of lecturers.

The delegation had a detailed discussion with Bhat on varied issues and applauded the role of officers of the department for giving due consideration to the issues highlighted by the association which represents the aspirations of thousands of lecturers working at +2 level.

“It’s due to departmental efforts that the career progression is currently under perusal in the office of Chief Secretary and hopefully the matter would be placed before the Establishment Committee in near future. The revision of J&K Education (Gazetted) Service Recruitment Rules 2023 is under progress and the department was requested to hold the meeting of the recently constituted committee at earliest to take final decision on the objections, suggestion filed.”

“The issues of appointees of 2017, convenient posting of severely ill, those having ailing parents at home and adjustment of long awaiting surplus staff on their own posts was also brought into the notice of the officer and the department was requested to address these issues on priority. The department was also requested to commence and complete the engagement of Cluster Resource Coordinators before the start of academic session 2024-25 in the interest of hassle free academic session. The vacant posts of Principals may also be filled up immediately to ensure smooth academic-cum-administrative dealings in the higher secondary schools.”

The association will dedicatedly and with commitment back every intervention/initiative and step by the department in the interest of the education of the students in the UT of J&K as quality education of the students has remained the core concern,” the statement added.

Later the delegation visited Directorate School Education Kashmir and called on Hilal Ahmad Bhat, Personal Officer, DSEK and discussed different issues with him. The delegation conveyed good wishes to Director School Education Kashmir Dr Tassaduq Hussain for his genuine support in taking up the issues of +2 cadre with higher authorities.

Those who accompanied the delegation included Mohammad Shafi Mir, Khursheed Alam, Mohammad Abass Ali Khan, Khursheed Ahmad Rather, Javid Ahmad Mir, Irfan Illai, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, Khursheedul Hassan, Shahid Shafi and others.
