Srinagar, Sep 29: Delhi Public School Budgam hosted a highly anticipated inter-school debate competition, bringing together some of the most prestigious schools from the region.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from ten schools, including Doon International, Green Valley, Army Public School, Delhi Public School Srinagar, Delhi Public School Budgam (the host), G.D. Goenka, Burn Hall, Kashmir Valley School, and Foundation World School.

The debate centered around the compelling topic: “Should homework be banned?” Participants delivered passionate arguments both for and against the motion. Advocates for banning homework emphasized the need for students to have more free time to foster creativity, reduce stress, and improve their mental well-being. They argued that excessive homework often intrudes on family time and other extracurricular activities. On the opposing side, speakers defended homework as a crucial educational tool, reinforcing classroom learning, instilling discipline, and promoting independent thinking.

The event was graced by two distinguished guests: Mehfooz Aslam, the Dean of DPS Budgam, and Dr. Samuel Seelan, the Principal of the school. Their presence added a sense of prestige and importance to the occasion, highlighting the school’s commitment to academic excellence and the overall development of its students.

The esteemed panel of judges—Eva Bhat,. In the end, Mehar and Ahlam from Delhi Public School Budgam emerged as the overall winners of the competition, bringing pride to their school. Presentation Convent secured the position of first runner-up for their impressive performance.

Mehar from DPS Budgam was also honored with the Best Speaker Award for her outstanding oratory skills, while Maira from Presentation Convent received the Second Best Speaker Award, recognized for her powerful and engaging speech.
