Ex-servicemen, others seek action against terror facilitators, strengthening of VDGs

Jammu, July 17: Several political and apolitical organisations Wednesday held protest demonstrations in different districts against a rise in terrorist attacks in the Jammu region and demanded immediate steps to end it besides stringent action against facilitators of terrorists.

Paying glowing tributes to brave hearts, who laid down their lives in recent encounters, they asked the government to go full throttle against terrorists and their supporters, like it did in Kashmir.

Jammu Kashmir Ex-Servicemen Association members assembled at their Kathua office to pay tributes to slain soldiers in recent terror attacks and demanded the strengthening of VDGs and the border security grid.

Jammu Kashmir Ex-Servicemen Association chairman Captain Gyan Singh Pathania and vice chairman Captain Balbir Singh demanded stringent policy against those giving shelter to terrorists. Similar protests were witnessed in Jammu where the members of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal burnt effigy of Pakistan and demanded “Operation All Out” on the pattern of Kashmir, to end foreign terrorists and their facilitators in the Jammu region.

Members of Ekam Sanatan Bharat and Movement Kalki also held separate protest demonstrations against terrorist attacks and demanded stringent actions to eliminate foreign mercenaries. Similar protests were held in the Doda district as well.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has announced its “Governor House Gherao” programme against terrorist attacks. “Congress leaders led by in-charge J&K Affairs Bharatsinh Solanki will march from Shaheedi Chowk to Governor House at 11 am tomorrow,” Congress leaders said.
