Making efforts to promote off-beat destinations in J&K: Union Minister
Srinagar, Aug 07: As the heat wave persists and the flow of tourists is said to be at all time high towards Kashmir, the prominent picnic destinations are being overcrowded, forcing the govt to put efforts to promote offbeat destinations even as making them accessible.
Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendera Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday said that the prominent tourist destinations are being congested and that the efforts are being made to promote the offbeat destinations.
Shekhawat said that the centre is committed to provide all required support to improve road and mobile connectivity to the less explored destinations across the country, reported news agency KNO.
The minister said that the government has asked all the states including the administration of the Union Territory of J&K to come up with a roadmap to improve infrastructure, network connectivity, and roads to make the less-explored destinations more accessible to both national and foreign tourists.
The government has started online modules to enhance skills of guides even as new training programs are being set-up for the new guides, said the minister while talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
