Drug peddler apprehended in Kupwara area

Kupwara, Dec 11: A drug peddler was arrested along with a brown sugar-like substance in the Kalaroose area of Kupwara, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile District Police Kupwara in a statement said, "In its continued efforts to combat the menace of drug trafficking and substance abuse, District Police Kupwara in a significant event while conducting routine checking near Higher Secondary School Kalaroose, apprehended a suspicious individual, identified as Javid Ahmed Lone, son of Abdul Khaliq Lone, resident of Lashtiyal, Kalaroose. Upon search, 4 grams of a brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession".

"A case under FIR No. 281/2024 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8/21) has been registered at the concerned police station, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and network behind the illegal activity" reads the statement.

"District Police Kupwara reiterates its commitment to making Kupwara a drug-free district and urges the general public to cooperate in this mission. Any information related to drug peddling or other unlawful activities can be shared confidentially with the police," reads the statement further.
