Dr Karan Singh felicitates Mohsin Ali, Coach Bilquis Mir for Khelo India Gold

Srinagar, Oct 7: Former Sadr-i-Riyasat and eminent statesman Dr Karan Singh honoured young athlete Mohsin Ali and his coach, Paris Olympics jury member Bilquis Mir, for winning gold at the Khelo India Water Sports event held in Srinagar in August.

As per a statement issued, the felicitation ceremony was also attended by Martand Singh, Trustee of the Hari Tara Charitable Trust and grandson of Dr Karan Singh.

Dr Karan Singh congratulated Mohsin on his outstanding performance, particularly against strong contenders from Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. He also commended Bilquis Mir for her dedicated coaching and long-standing commitment to nurturing Mohsin’s talent.

Bilquis expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dr Karan Singh and Martand Singh for this honour and conveyed her hope that this recognition would inspire Mohsin and other athletes to continue pursuing their dreams.

The two athletes also shared insights into the development of sports in Jammu & Kashmir under the Prime Minister’s Khelo India Scheme, along with other related initiatives.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently congratulated and applauded Mohsin in his “Mann Ki Baat” address, during which he interacted with Mohsin and lauded his achievement in the Khelo India Water Sports Festival.
