Srinagar, Nov 25: The 141st Board Meeting of the Central Silk Board convened under the chairmanship of Prajakta L. Verma, IAS, Union Joint Secretary (Silk), Ministry of Textiles, witnessed a strategic gathering of senior officials and representatives from across India today.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Sivakumar P, Member Secretary. Distinguished officers from states including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and others actively participated in the meeting.

Representing the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, raised critical issues with the Union Joint Secretary (Silk) at the Ministry of Textiles, emphasising the need for timely completion of developmental projects over the next three years. Bhat urged for substantial budgetary support and effective marketing strategies for Raw Silk (Cocoons) by the Central Silk Board.

In response, the Union Joint Secretary (Silk) at the Ministry of Textiles assured the Director Sericulture Development Department in J&K, of full technical and financial backing for the progressive development of Sericulture in the Union Territory. An official statement released on the occasion confirmed this commitment.

As the Central Silk Board marks its 75th anniversary, a special logo was unveiled during the meeting, commemorating the institution's rich legacy and remarkable achievements throughout its illustrious journey. The logo serves as a testament to the Board's enduring commitment to the growth and advancement of the silk industry in India.
