DG YSS Reviews Sports Infrastructure Progress at Khel Gaon Nagrota
Jammu, Aug 31: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K continues its commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and facilities for athletes and sports enthusiasts in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a statement said.
Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General of YSS J&K, convened a meeting with the Engineering wing and planning section officers at Khel Gaon to assess the progress of various sports projects. During the visit, he conducted a thorough physical inspection of both ongoing and completed projects, including the Synthetic Athletic Track, Football field, Lawn Tennis court, Cycling Track, Iron Net Fencing around the upper ground, Indoor Multipurpose Hall, Flood protection works from the riverside, Construction of bore wells, and Construction of approach road.
DG Tara issued on-the-spot directions to the Engineering wing to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects to prevent cost escalation.
Additionally, he inaugurated the Inter-Divisional UT Level competitions for selecting teams for the 63rd Edition of Subroto Mukherjee Cup to be held in New Delhi. The DG interacted with participating players, offering words of encouragement and guidance on team spirit and dedication.
Later, DG Tara visited Youth Hostel Nagrota, where he inaugurated the Inter-Division UT Level Taekwondo competitions. He also inspected the hostel building to ensure adequate facilities for the sports fraternity and event participants.
The Director General was accompanied by Joint Director YSS Jammu, Deputy Director Central, Deputy Director Planning, Accounts Officer, Engineering Wing of Sports Council, and other senior officers and officials of the YSS Department J&K.
