Dam concrete work of Kwar power project commences
Srinagar, Dec 4: In a significant achievement towards commissioning of Kwar project (540 MW), the pouring of concrete at deepest foundation level of concrete gravity dam was inaugurated through VC mode by R K Chaudhary, CMD NHPC Ltd & SJVN Ltd today.
The event was held in the presence of S.K. Singh, Director (Projects & Technical), NHPC Ltd, and Santosh Kumar, CVO, NHPC Ltd.
R K Chaudhary congratulated the officials of NHPC, CVPPL and M/s Patel Engineering Limited on start of concreting one month ahead of planned schedule and urged project officials to make all out efforts to use the current working season to achieve concreting above construction sluice level.
The achievement of concrete level above construction sluice will pave way for continuous concreting in monsoon season and early completion of dam. The achievement of concreting above under sluice level in this season will also make substantial saving in time and cost towards construction of cofferdam for one more season.
On this occasion Ramesh Mukhiya, MD (CVPPL) was present at the site along with S. K. Giri, HoP KWAR and senior officers of NHPC, CVPPL and M/s Patel Engineering Ltd. MD, CVPPL has expressed his sincere gratitude to the CMD, NHPC & SJVN for his support and assured full commitment and dedication from CVPPL towards timely commissioning of the project.
Kwar Project (540 MW) is being constructed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd, a joint venture company of NHPC Ltd (Govt of India Enterprise) and JKSPDC (Govt of J&K Enterprise). CVPPL has been entrusted with the implementation of 4 hydroelectric projects with installed capacity of about 3094 MW in Chenab River Basin in UT of J&K.
The completion of dam work is crucial for completion of the project and overall development of the region as well as improvement in socio economic conditions of adjoining areas.
