CUJ hosts an inter-college table tennis competition
Jammu, Nov 6: The Inter College Men & Women Table Tennis Competition under the aegis of Cluster University of Jammu was successfully organised at Government College of Education, Jammu.
The event, as per a statement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from all five constituent colleges of Cluster University of Jammu, i.e., GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce, Government MAM College, PSPS Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, and Government College of Education, Jammu. The competition showcased remarkable talent, team spirit and sportsmanship among the participating players.
The event commenced with a welcome address by the host college principal, Dr Jyoti Parihar, who applauded the Sports Committee for organising the competition and extended a heartfelt welcome to the guests and participants.
Dean of the School of Teacher Education Dr Zubair Kalees was the chief guest. He commended the college for promoting physical education and co-curricular engagement among students. Dr Jyoti Parihar was the special guest, while Director of Physical Education Cluster University of Jammu Dr Vinod Bakshi was the guest of honour for the event.
Among others present were Head of the Department of Hindi Prof. Satish Sharma; Physical Director of Government SPMR College of Commerce Ravi Kumar; Physical Director of Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar Kajal Premi; Assistant Physical Director of Government MAM College Neelam; and Dr Shalini Sharma from the Department of English, GGM Science College. Their presence added grace and encouragement to the event.
The matches were officiated by Table Tennis Coach IIT Jammu, Ajay Ratra, and Sakshi from Army Public School, Ratnuchak, ensuring fair play and smooth conduct throughout the competition.
In the Men’s Singles Tournament, Government SPMR College of Commerce emerged as the winner, while Government College of Education, Jammu, was runner-up. In the Women’s Singles Tournament, GGM Science College bagged the winner’s trophy, and Government SPMR College of Commerce stood as the runner-up.
