Crackdown on child labour | Jammu administration files 15 FIRs
Jammu, June 13: The Jammu administration has filed 15 FIRs during crackdown on child labour .
In a first of its kind crackdown on child labour, the district administration has filed FIR against 15 business establishments for engaging child labour.
According to a press release, in a meeting to review efforts for rehabilitation of children in street situations, the Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya spoke with officers to make regular inspections to identify children selling goods on the road, employed in child labour or begging and asserted that child labour and begging would not be tolerated in the district.
It is pertinent to mention that Sachin Kumar has mandated stringent action, especially cancellation of the registration of business establishments of those found forcing children to work in dhabas, trafficking or forcing children into begging.
The DC has directed officials to scan all major hubs of such activities. SSP, Dr Vinod Kumar has instructed the district police to adopt zero tolerance policy against child exploitation of such kind. The Chief Education Officer and Social Welfare Department have been entrusted to ensure that the rescued children receive education within their vicinity.
