CM Omar Abdullah reaches out to Gurupora fire victims
Srinagar, Nov 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the vice president of the National Conference demonstrated a hands-on approach in providing comprehensive relief and compensation to the victims of Gurupora fire incident.
NC spokesperson in a statement said in line with the party's commitment to providing adequate compensation for fire victims, Omar Abdullah government announced funds to the Rainawari fire victims. “It is important to note that the party has consistently pushed for substantial compensations for families affected by such disasters, as previous payouts were insufficient,” the statement said.
It said upon learning of the tragic incident in the Rainawari neighbourhood, the Chief Minister acted swiftly by assigning his cabinet colleague, Satish Sharma, his Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani Sogami, and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq to visit the site of the fire tragedy at Abi Gurupora in Rainawari.
“Following the visit, immediate action was taken to ensure that the affected families received `20,000 in cash assistance yesterday. In addition, each household will receive `1.30 lakh from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), along with tents, utensils, blankets, and other essential items.
Furthermore, each family will receive `1 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, as well as three months' worth of ration, stoves, and gas cylinders by this evening,” the statement added.
MLA Tanvir Sadiq will also provide assistance from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to support the affected families.
