Clearance drive launched against plastic waste in Ganderbal’s water bodies

Ganderbal, Apr 4: The authorities have started a drive against pollution in and around the water bodies including the nallah Sindh in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The authorities responded to the environmental issue after Greater Kashmir carried a news report on the issue of garbage and plastic waste being dumped in and around various water bodies including the banks of famous nallah Sindh thus polluting the water bodies.

Taking cognisance of the GK report, the district administration has sprung into action and asked all the concerned departments including the rural development, Jal Shakti , Pollution Control Committee Ganderbal and Panchayats to take appropriate action and measures to mitigate the issue. Citing the GK news report, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ganderbal, Syed Faheem Bihaqi has written to Assistant Commissioner Development Ganderbal, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats Ganderbal, District Officer Pollution Control Committee Ganderbal and Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Ganderbal to take appropriate action in the matter with intimation to his office.
