DC Kupwara champions free electricity, water reforms at Block Diwas
Kupwara, Apr 16: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara Ayushi Sudan Wednesday championed free electric supply and water reforms at Block Diwas organised in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Chairing the Block Diwas programme at Thayan Kalaroose, which was organised by the Kupwara district administration to listen to the grievances and developmental issues of the people, Sudan appealed to the people to come forward to register themselves under various public welfare schemes which would address their different issues.
She urged the prominent and senior citizens present there to take lead in availing the government schemes so that others get encouraged for the same.
Referring to Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna, the DC Kupwara said that the scheme aims to resolve the power woes of the consumers to make them self-reliant and appeal to the people to enrol themselves under the scheme to reap the benefits of free electricity.
She said the scheme was heavily subsidised by the government for the benefit of the consumers which reduces the power bill of the consumer to zero.
Replying to the issues of water supply, the DC said that different habitations of Kalaroose block have been covered under Water Supply Scheme Kalaroose which had benefitted a large number of households living in these areas.
