Cleanliness drive held at Kashmir University

Srinagar, Mar 5: To make the Naseem Bagh campus of the Kashmir University (KU) free from plastic pollution, the NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteers of Kashmir University (KU) Monday organised a ‘Clean Campus Drive.’

The driver was held under the ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ initiative. Around 100 volunteers from various departments actively participated in the drive.

In a statement, KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan hailed the efforts of the NSS volunteers and reiterated the university’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability.

“Cleanliness drives are integral to the ethos of educational institutions and this initiative is a step towards encouraging a culture of responsible citizenship among the student community,” Prof Khan added.

Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, NSS Programme Coordinator, Dr Musavir Ahmed, said that the varsity is committed towards maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. “The ‘Clean Campus Drive’ will become a regular monthly activity,” he added.

To acknowledge their dedication and enthusiasm, certificates were distributed among the participants at the conclusion of the drive.

The programme was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers, Dr Mubashir Altaf, Dr Kounsar Jan and Dr Rifat John.
