Kargil, Oct 24: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon on Tuesday attended the concluding ceremony of the 3rd LG Horse Polo Cup organised by DYSSO Kargil, which concluded at Goshan Stadium Drass.

Ladakh Scouts Leh clinched the third LG Cup for the third consecutive time, securing a 4-0 victory over D’Meadows Drass.

Speaking at the event, the CEC emphasised the significance of Polo as a heritage sport and expressed his satisfaction with the substantial developments that have taken place in the game in Drass over the past decade.

CEC, on behalf of Lieutenant Governor Ladakh and LAHDC Kargil, congratulated all participating teams of Leh and Kargil for participating in the event. Akhoon also conveyed his best wishes to the organisers and the relevant department for the successful execution of the tournament.

He assured that the present LAHDC would prioritize the development of the tourism and sports sectors. Prior to this, various cultural troupes from Drass and students of GDC Drass showcased vibrant cultural performances.

 The dignitaries also presented felicitations to the winning, runner-up, and participating teams. The tournament, commencing on October 20, saw the active participation of numerous teams from Leh and Kargil. Notably, for the first time, girl teams also took part in the tournament, and they were duly acknowledged and honoured by the dignitaries.

The event was attended by ADC Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-In Wani, as well as Councilors of Upper and Lower Drass, including Abdul Samad and Abdul Wahid. In addition, DYSSO Kargil, SDM Drass, a substantial number of sports enthusiasts, and relevant officers were also present at the event.
