‘Breach of privilege’ notice served to Waheed-ur-Rehman Para
Srinagar, Nov 27: PDP legislature party leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Para have been given seven days by legislative assembly to respond to a "breach of privilege" notice.
The notice was issued to him over his speech in the assembly during the recent session. National Conference MLA Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi had alleged breach of privilege by Parra.
Parra accused the government of attempting to silence the opposition. “We are only four to five MLAs in the opposition, trying to raise the voice of the people. Such attempts are aimed at intimidating and silencing us”, Parra told reporters in Pulwama. He said that he would respond to the notice.
Gurezi had accused Parra of making derogatory remarks against him during his speech on Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s Address.
Parra, however, said that he resisted when the MLA made a remark against Jamaat-e-Islamai and PDP leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
“I had said that such remarks are unacceptable to us,”PDP MLA said.
He said that people endured suffocation over the last six years and they elected their representative to ensure that their voices were heard in the assembly. “And when we try to represent the same sentiments of people, we are being given such notices, ” Parra added.
