6 arrested for illegal mining in Reasi: Police

Ramban, Nov 27: Reasi Police arrested six persons for their involvement in illegal mining.

Six vehicles used by them were also seized. Police sources said, on the directions of SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, Police teams led by SHO Police Station Reasi conducted series of raids at different locations in the district and apprehended six drivers and seized their vehicles involved in illegal mining.

Police said tractor number JK20A-2196 belongs to Mohammad Jaffer son of Ahmed Din resident of Chitta Bas,Mahore, tractor number JK20A-8658 Nisar Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid Malik resident of Dewal, Mahore, tractor number JK20B-5201, belongs to Altaf Hussain son of Abdul Rahman Malik resident of Dewal, Mahore,tractor number JK20C-5228 of Mohammad Yonu son of Abdul Ghani Sheikh resident of Seela,tractor number JK20C-0968 of Ishfaq Ahmed son of Musharraf Mohammad resident of Dasanoo, Reasi and tipper (Dumper) number JK20B-9058 of Qamer Din son of Ali Mohammad. Sheikh, a resident of Sunderbani, Rajouri, was seized.

Police said the concerned mining officer was informed to initiate necessary legal proceedings against the violators.

Police said the drive was launched for safeguarding public resources and eradicating illegal mining activities.
