Srinagar, Sep 18: Two budding cricketers from Kashmir, Md Talha of GD Goenka School Baramulla and Mir Hayyan of Doon School Srinagar, are making waves in the CBSE Under-14 National Cricket Tournament underway in Noida.

The tournament, as per a statement issued on Thursday, the first national-level boys’ cricket event organised by CBSE, features nine teams from various zones across the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories.

Representing North Zone-2, Md Talha and Hayyan have emerged as standout performers, each earning man of the match honours.

Hayyan scored 58 runs off 41 balls and took one wicket in the team’s opening match, and in the 3rd match scored 89 runs off 51 balls and took two crucial wickets and was declared man of the match for two matches.

Hayyan has taken 4 wickets in total so far. Mir Hayyan resides in Palhallan Pattan of the district of Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir, while Talha contributed 41 runs off 29 balls and claimed one wicket in the same game.

Talha followed up with 47 runs from 38 balls in the second match and 46 runs from 31 balls along with another wicket in the third.

Both players had earlier secured gold medals in the zonal tournament held in Patiala, Punjab. Under the guidance of coach Abjaal Ali, their efforts have helped North Zone-2 advance to the semifinals, scheduled for September 19.
