Bhavkul Handoo wins bronze medal at National Wushu Championship
Srinagar, Dec 10: Bhavkul Handoo, a talented wushu player from Jammu and Kashmir, represented the Union Territory and secured a bronze medal at the 24th Sub Junior National Wushu Championship held in Tarn Taran, Punjab.
This is Bhavkul's second consecutive medal, following his gold and bronze achievements in last year's championship. A seventh-grade student at KC International School in Jammu, Bhavkul is not only exceptional in sports but also excels academically.
The championship, which saw participation from almost all states and Union Territories of India, witnessed Bhavkul's outstanding performance. He showcased remarkable skill, determination, and prowess, leaving an indelible mark in the competition.
Notably, Bhavkul comes from a sporting family. His father, Kuldeep Handoo, is the Chief Coach of India (Wushu) and the only Dronacharya awardee from the Union Territory. Currently serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in J&K, Handoo hails from the Rainawari area of Srinagar City.
Expressing gratitude, Bhavkul thanked the J&K Sports Council for their exceptional training, infrastructure, and support. He also acknowledged his coaches for providing unprecedented training and motivation, and his school management for fostering an environment of excellence.
Looking forward, Bhavkul is hopeful of winning gold in the next championship. He aims to participate in both Wushu events—Sanda and Taolu—and is committed to working harder to achieve his goals.
