Srinagar, Sep 27: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar on Friday organised a conference titled "Rehmat-al Lil Aalameen" at the historic central Jamia Masjid Srinagar to observe the blessed birth of the Prophet of Mercy Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (SAW).

“The event was supposed to be presided over by Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar but he continues to be under house arrest by the authorities, preventing him from attending this blessed gathering,” the press release said.

In their addresses, the speakers said that the Prophet's (SAW)  life serves as a guiding light for Muslims throughout history. They said that while Islam is flourishing globally, Muslims seem to be drifting away from Islamic teachings. The main reason for this disconnect is the failure to incorporate the universal principles of Islam and the Prophet's (SAW) character into their lives, they added.
