Ahmad Cricket Club clinches CPL-2025 title in Baramulla
Baramulla, Aug 31: Ahmad Cricket Club (Sultan Warrior Summerbugh) lifted the Chinar Premier League (CPL)-2025 title on Saturday, defeating MLA Gym Khana by seven wickets in the final in Baramulla.
The final match of the tournament was played between the Ahmad Cricket Club (Sultan Warrior Summerbugh) at General Bipin Rawat Stadium Baramulla.
While setting their target, MLA Gym Khana scored 120 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ahmed Cricket Club, while chasing the target, maintained their dominance on the pitch and emerged victorious after scoring 121 runs for the loss of only three wickets in 16 overs.
During the post-match presentation, Waseem Raza from Ahmad Cricket Club was handed over the man of the series and man of the match awards.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs two lakhs and a trophy, while the runner-up team was handed over a cash prize of one lakh rupees and a trophy.
CPL-2025 commenced on July 21, 2025, with the participation of 64 teams across Kashmir – 32 teams from Baramulla and 32 teams from other districts of the Valley.
Major General Paranvir Singh Punia, GOC Dagger Division Baramulla, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police, North Kashmir Range, Maqsood ul Zaman; Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh; and senior officers from the police and army were also present at the occasion.
The CPL-2025 was organised by the Indian Army in coordination with local civil stakeholders and was played on a knockout basis.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, General Secretary of the Baramulla Cricket Forum (BCF) Zubair Dar, who is also the captain of BCC Reds, said the CPL-2025 was an opportunity for the cricketers to showcase their talent.
“As the teams from across Kashmir participated in the tournament, it helped all players to assess their performances,” Zubair Dar told Greater Kashmir.
Renowned commentator from north Kashmir Kifayat Aftab, while briefing about the CPL-2025, said the tournament was played on the theme of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
"Such kinds of platforms provide an opportunity for the cricketers to exhibit their talent and assess their performance when they compete with different teams," Aftab told Greater Kashmir.
