Action against drug-peddling | Property of Rs 1.74 Cr attached in Rajouri
Rajouri/Jammu, May 4: Police Saturday stated to have attached property worth Rs 1.74 Cr, linked to a drug peddling accused, in Rajouri town.
Meanwhile, Jammu police in a separate drive have arrested two drug peddlers, hailing from Rajouri, on charges of supplying drugs.
In the case of Rajouri, the property attached is related to accused Vikal Chogga, son of Vimal Chogga, resident of Ward 12 Rajouri.
“Accused is booked in a case FIR no 380/2023 U/Ss 8/21/22/25/27 - A of NDPS Act in Police Station Rajouri. The property, comprising a multi-storey business establishment, is situated in the heart of the Rajouri city and is valued at around Rs 1.74 Cr,” police said.
“The accused had erected this empire from the money he accumulated by selling drugs to the local youths. One Eeco car, valued at Rs 7 lakh and bearing registration number JK11D 3289 was
also attached in this case earlier,” police said.
A police spokesperson said that the action of attachment or seizure of property was made by a police team headed by Additional SP Rajouri Musadiq Basu along with Deputy SP Headquarter Ashwani Sharma; Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani; PSI Sahil Choudhary along with Executive Magistrate Sham Lal.
SSP Rajouri Amritpal Singh, in an official statement, said, “Rajouri Police reiterates its commitment towards eradication of drug-peddling menace from society and tightening noose against those involved in it.”
“More similar actions in times to come are expected,” he said.
SSP Rajouri said that there was zero tolerance policy of J&K Police against drug peddlers and it was evident from massive actions taken in Rajouri district in the past.
Meanwhile, SP North Jammu, in a press conference at Jammu, said that two drug peddlers identified as Mohd Waqar and Majid Choudhary, both residents of Rajouri were arrested for supplying drugs in Rajouri-Poonch, brought from Amritsar.
