Absence of Tehsildars in Baramulla disrupt public service delivery
Baramulla, Dec 2: The continuous absence of dedicated Tehsildars at two key Tehsil headquarters in Narwaw, and Baramulla tehsil of district Baramulla has raised serious concerns about the administration's resolve to address citizens issues, especially during the challenging winter months.
The Tehsildar of Kreeri has been assigned additional responsibility for both Baramulla Tehsil and Narwaw. This arrangement has led to significant strain on the officials and impacted the delivery of governance.
The stopgap measure is in force despite Baramulla tehsil being one of the most significant administrative units in the district.
People are questioning the temporary arrangement which has left Tehsil office Baramulla headless.
"Managing three tehsil offices simultaneously is extremely difficult for a single official. The winter is always full of challenges and in case of any adversity, affected people's initial hope remains Tehsildar, however, three headless offices leads to inefficiencies and its victim is a common person," said Mushtaq Ahmad, a local resident.
Raising serious concern over the issue, the President Traders Federation Baramulla, Tariq Ahmad Mughloo, while lashing out at the authorities, said that the administration has no concern over the hardships confronting the common people.
He said leaving common people in such a distress situation that too in a harsh winter is not acceptable.
"At a time when Chief Minister decided to cancel his engagements at Jammu and ensure his presence at Srinagar following intense cold wave which has crippled the daily affairs of common people, here in Baramulla, Kreeri and Narwaw tehsils, people continue to suffer in the absence of a designated Tehsildar," said President Traders Federation Baramulla.
Residents are reporting delays in essential services, including revenue-related matters and certifications, which are extremely important for a common man. "The issue has been a biggest hurdle in the proper public service delivery system," said Fayaz Ahmad, a Narwaw resident.
The locals here have urged the local MLA, Javed Hassan Beig, to intervene in the matter, and resolve the issue immediately in the interest of the people.
