7 bovine smugglers arrested, 97 animals rescued: Police
Ramban, May 29: Ramban Police arrested seven bovine smugglers, seized seven vehicles and rescued 97 bovine animals illegally being transported to Kashmir on Wednesday.
On the directions of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar-Police teams of Batote, Chanderkote and Ramban have foiled seven bovine smuggling attempts and arrested seven bovine smugglers, rescued 97 animals.
They said the Police team of Police Station Batote led by SHO Batote, intercepted a vehicle, during checking 12 bovines were found laden inside the vehicles, which were tied cruelly and were being transported illegally. One person was arrested.
In another instance, the Police team of Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Chanderkote while performing vehicle checking duty intercepted five vehicles, during checking 48 bovines were found laden in these vehicles, which were tied cruelly and were being transported illegally. Five persons were arrested.
In another instance, the Police team led by SHO Ramban intercepted a vehicle during checking, 37 bovines were found laden inside the vehicles, which were tied cruelly and were being transported illegally. One person was arrested.
Police have registered FIR No. 76/2024 registered at Police Station Batote, FIR No. 79/80/, 81/ 82 83 of 2024 at Police Station Chanderkote, FIR No. 124 of 2024 registered at Police station station under Sections 188 IPC and section section the Prevention of crueltyCrueltymals Act.
They said seven vehicles used in the commission of offence have been seized.
