6 persons arrested for illegal transportation of minerals in Kulgam

Srinagar, Nov 15: To curb the menace of illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Kulgam along with Geology and Mining Department have seized 5 vehicles and arrested 6 persons.

The joint teams of Police alongwith Geology and Mining Department have seized 5 vehicles (2 Tractors, 2 Tippers and 1 JCB) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from river Vaishow and other Nallahs.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Qazigund and PS Kulgam and further investigation has been initiated.

“People are requested to come forward or dial 112 regarding any information about illegal extraction of minerals,” police said. Police warned stringent action as per law against those found involved in such activities.
