3471 pilgrims embark on Amarnath Yatra from Jammu
Jammu, July 20: Around 3500 Yatris embarked on pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath in South Kashmir from Jammu base camp at Bhagwati Nagar on Saturday.
According to officials, twenty-third batch of 3471 pilgrims, including 2620 males, 720 females, 3 children, 93 Sadhus, 34 Sadhvis and one transgender left for twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal in 114 vehicles from Jammu.
“2398 pilgrims, comprising 1924 males, 345 females, 1 child, 93 Sadhus, 34 Sadhvis and one transgender embarked on pilgrimage through the Pahalgam route in 79 vehicles. 1073 pilgrims, including 696 males, 375 females and two children left for pilgrimage, from Baltal route, in 35 vehicles,” they informed.
On July 19, twenty-second batch of 4821 Yatris, comprising 3259 males, 1482 females, 8 children, 63 Sadhus and nine Sadhvis left for Yatra from Jammu to cave shrine in 150 vehicles.
Yatra, which began on June 29 from Pahalgam and Baltal routes, will conclude on August 19, 2024.
