3 shops gutted in Lal Chowk blaze

Srinagar, Mar 14:  At least three shops were gutted in a fire incident in the city centre Lal Chowk today.

Officials said that the fire broke out from one of the shops on the ground floor of a commercial building and spread to adjacent shops.

“We received information about the incident at around 5:40 am and rushed fire tenders from Batamaloo and Gaw Kadal stations to douse off the flames. Three shops were damaged which also included a Kashmir arts shop,” said the official adding that short circuit caused the fire.

The affected shopkeepers said shawls and other items in adjacent shops were completely gutted.
