Srinagar, Jan 8: As many as 3.55 lakh students will write the class 10th to 12th Annual Board examinations in soft and hard zone areas across Jammu and Kashmir this year for which the JK Board of School Education (BOSE) has designated around 3676 examination centres for the students.

As per the official figures around 355963 students- 317136 soft zone and 38827 students will appear in the annual examination. As already reported, the JKBOSE has notified the date sheet for the students of class 10th to 12th class students appearing in the exams in soft zone areas of Jammu and Kashmir. As per the date sheet, the exam for class 10th and 12th students in soft zone areas will commence from February 15 while the examination for class 11th students will commence from February 18 of this year.

The date sheet for students in hard zone areas is yet to be notified by JKBOSE. In class 10th around 132992 students-- 114413 in soft zones and 18579 students in hard zones will appear in the exams in 1553 exam centres-- 1313 in soft zones and 240 in hard zone areas of J&K. Similarly in class 11th examination as many as 120673 students--109137 in soft zones and 11536 in hard zones will write the exams in 1134 exam centres-- 1004 in soft zones and 130 centres in hard zone areas.

Also, 102298 students--93586 in soft zones and 8712 students in hard zone areas of Jammu and Kashmir will write the examination in 989 exam centres-- 873 in soft zone areas and 116 exam centres in hard zones areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

"For class 10th students, the duty is set for 11 days while the duty for holding class 11th and 12th class examinations is assigned for nine days," a JKBOSE official said. The official said the JKBOSE holds around 13 exams in one year including six annual regular examinations-- three in soft zones and three in hard zones for class 10th to 12th students besides the three private examinations for those students who fail to qualify the regular exams. "We also conduct two exams each for D.Ed and State Open School (SOS) exams as well," the official said.

The official said all the arrangements have been done by the JKBOSE to conduct the annual exams including the designation of exam centres and other related activities across Jammu and Kashmir. As already reported by this newspaper, the J&K government this year restored the previous November academic session in Kashmir schools following which the annual assessment examination of students up to class 9th was held in November-December this year. From the upcoming academic session, all the examinations in Kashmir schools including JKBOSE annual exams will be held in November-December month.
