Srinagar, Sep 23: The 20th edition of the Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament (MMFT-2025) was inaugurated Tuesday at the Synthetic Turf Ground, TRC, Srinagar, amid vibrant celebrations and enthusiastic participation from players, officials, and spectators.

As per a police statement, Anand Jain, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Armed J&K, was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, the ADGP Armed underscored the vital role of sports in channelling youth energy in constructive and positive directions. He urged young people to shun the menace of drugs and devote themselves instead to sports and other purposeful pursuits. He emphasised that sports nurture both physical and mental well-being and open doors to recognition at the state, national, and international levels.

The statement added that the organising of this event served as a living tribute to the supreme sacrifice given by the Martyrs of J&K Police, who laid their precious lives in the line of duty. Over the years, the Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament has evolved into a prestigious sporting event in the Valley, both commemorating valour and nurturing young sporting talent.

MMFT-2025 is designed to encourage active youth participation in football while fostering unity, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. With spirited teams and dedicated organisers, the tournament promises to be a celebration of sporting spirit and collective resilience.
