2 revenue officers among 4 arrested: SSP Benam Tosh
Jammu, Nov 25: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime, Jammu, Benam Tosh Monday stated that four accused, including former Tehsildar and a retired Girdawar, were arrested in a land grabbing case while a charge-sheet was filed in the court of law for judicial determination against eight accused.
“The investigation of a case FIR No 30/2016 u/s 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC r/w 5(2) P C Act, P/S Crime Branch Jammu was completed. Four accused were arrested and a charge-sheet, against eight accused, was filed in the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Jammu for judicial determination,” SSP Crime, Jammu said.
“A written complaint lodged by Koushalaya Devi, wife of late Duni Chand, resident of village Dangray, tehsil R S Pura, Jammu, duly endorsed by Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu, was received in Crime Branch wherein the complainant had alleged that her late husband, being a displaced person of 1947, was allotted land measuring 72 kanals and 4 marlas in different khasra numbers at village Dangray R S Pura, now Suchetgarh, Jammu,” he said.
“However, accused and his father in connivance with the revenue officials got the land transferred and mutated in their favour vide mutation of in-heritance on the basis of fake and forged Adoption Deed duly registered before the court showing the accused as the adopted son of the complainant and her husband, whereas the complainant neither appeared before any revenue officer nor before the court for the mutation or registration of the land for the adoption deed,” SSP Crime, Jammu said.
On receiving the complaint, preliminary verification was conducted, FIR was lodged and investigation was started.
SSP said that investigation was conducted by an experienced officer of the rank of Deputy SP, who proved the offences of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy against eight accused, of whom four were arrested, two were bailed out and two were no more.
