After remaining open for a brief period, the Jammu-Srinagar highway was again closed by the authorities due to landslides at two places on Tuesday.

According to reports, after remaining closed for two days the Jammu-Srinagar highway was opened for stranded vehicles, but only after an hour, the authorities were forced to shut it down again. Landslides triggered at Battery Chashma, Anokhifall, and Digdool caused vehicles to be stranded once again. The contractor company responsible for maintenance of the highway between Ramban to Banihal has started road clearance.

The shutting down of the highway has thrown normal life out of gear. Due to snowfall, traffic was disrupted on the link roads leading to District Headquarter town and there have been reports of landslides at many places on the link roads as well.

The local District Administration said that it will take some time to restore water supply and electricity in the district and confirmed that there has been disruption in essential services in some areas of the district.
