Demanding enhancement of Grade Pay from Rs 2400 to Rs 2800 for graduate Patwaries, timely DPC besides other demands, the Girdawars and Patwaris of District Ramban today continued their pen down strike for the third consecutive day. 

On the state wide call given by All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association, a large number of Patwaris and Girdwars of Ramban District assembled at Deputy Commissioner’s office and staged a protest dharna in support of their demands.

They raised slogans against the government for ignoring their genuine demands.

The speakers alleged that they were assured by the government that the demands of Patwaris and Girdwars would be addressed but nothing has been done.

The Patwaris and Girdwars are left with no option but to launch an agitation, the speakers said.   The Patwaris and Girdwars are also demanding abolition of direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars and enhancement of allowances.

Chowdhary Mira Zahis, district president of the Association said that pen down strike will continue till the demands are not fulfilled.

Meanwhile, due to the strike, people are facing lot of problems as all the revenue related works have come to a standstill in the district.
