The 220 KV Srinagar-Leh transmission line is complete in all respects and can be commissioned anytime in “near future”, officials of the power grid corporation (PGC) said on Friday.

An official of the corporation told Greater Kashmir that the transmission line has been charged on 10 January 2018.

He said as a precautionary measure, “we have written to sub divisional magistrate Kangan that necessary instructions may be passed on to the general public to remain away from the line and the towers till stabilisation of the whole system.”

The official said that governor’s advisor, Kewal Kumar Sharma at a review meeting was informed that the line from Leh to Alasteng (Srinagar) having four substations at Leh, Khalsti, Kargil and Drass “is complete in all respects and is ready for charging.”

The line will ensure connectivity of Ladakh region with the national grid and subsequent availability of the power supply to the region round-the-year, the official said.
