The government on Thursday decided to impose restrictions in Srinagar areas on Friday and also ordered closure of all educational institutions as a “precautionary measure.” The joint separatist leadership has called for protests after Friday prayers against rising incidents of braid-chopping across Kashmir.

District magistrate Srinagar said that restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC would remain in force under jurisdiction of police stations Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, M R Gunj, Safakadal and partially in Kralkhud and Maisuma, on October 13 (Friday) as a “precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.”

Divisional commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Khan said: “All educational institutions, including schools, colleges, private schools, will remain closed on Friday.”

Meanwhile, class-work at the University of Kashmir shall remain suspended on 13th October (Friday), a KU spokesman said.

“However all examinations shall be held as per schedule,” he added.
