5% voting in Langate municipality

Out of 13 wards in Langate, nine contestants have won unopposed. In two other wards, there is no contestant and in the rest, four candidates are in fray.

A mere 5.07 per cent of the total registered voters turned up to cast their vote in the second phase of the urban local bodies’ election on Wednesday in two wards of the Municipal Committee Langate in Kupwara district.

Out of 13 wards in Langate, nine contestants have won unopposed. In two other wards, there is no contestant and in the rest, four candidates are in fray.

A total of 33 votes, out of total 650, were polled today amid stringent security arrangements, said an election officer.

In the first phase, 32.30 per cent votes were polled in 18 wards of two municipal bodies of Kupwara.
